Politically Correct, and Bullying

Penni_Socrates_and_Xanthippe bullyingWhen you say “politically correct”, I know someone you disrespect has been polite and respectful of someone you don’t care about.

It’s always said to undermine something someone else has said, in which they’ve tried to accommodate the needs of a third person, and the only possible meaning in saying it, is that you are scornful of that accommodation.

“Politically correct” is a term of derision, and denigration.  It’s only ever used instead of real discussion about real issues, and is used, invariably, to put an end to discussion, to veto further debate or further rationality.

Australians often used to be polite and respectful, but under current Governments and “informed” by the Murdoch media, we’re encouraged to label instead of discuss, show no respect to those who are different, and indeed denigrate their differences.

Now we’re being told to support “Team Australia”, told to distrust and marginalise those who aren’t in the team.  And in today’s Australia no-one who challenges the Captain is allowed in the team.
